In a movie season filled with CGI fantasy, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD gets real - with real action, real humor, and the reprise of a beloved and iconic character: John McClane. On the Fourth of July weekend, an attack on the vulnerable United States infrastructure begins to shut down the entire nation. The mysterious figure behind the scheme has figured out every modern angle...but he never figured on McClane - the oldschool "analog" fly in the "digital" ointment.

It's the beginning of the holiday, but New York City Detective McClane isn't celebrating. He's had yet another argument with his college-age daughter Lucy, and received a crushingly routine assignment to bring in a young hacker, Matt Farrell, for questioning by the FBI. But for McClane, the ordinary has a habit of exploding into the extraordinary - abruptly hurtling him into the wrong place at the wrong time.

With Farrell's help, McClane slowly begins to understand the increasing chaos surrounding him. An attack is underway on the vulnerable United States infrastructure, shutting down the entire nation. The mysterious figure behind the scheme, Thomas Gabriel, stays several moves ahead of McClane as he implements his incredible plans, known to uber-geeks like Farrell as a "fire sale" (as in, everything must go!).

LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD eschews computer generated fantasy for practical action set pieces. John McClane's sardonic sense of humor always feels genuine and relatable. And, most importantly, the film is character-driven, anchored by one of pop culture's toughest yet most endearing everyman heroes.

The fourth film of the action franchise will feature John McClane (Willis) attempting to stop a techno-terrorist from shutting down the nation's computer systems on the Fourth of July. The story takes place around Washington, D.C.

The fourth installment of the franchise finds hero John McClane (Bruce Willis) coming out of retirement to battle an internet terrorist organization intending to systematically demolish or seize our technological infrastructure via a three-day plan. These guys will gradually step up malfunctions starting with traffic control systems, working towards economic markets, and finally shutting down key utilities like power and water, to send the U.S. essentially into a modern Dark Ages.

The next sequel in the series that made Bruce Willis an action star is no longer called Die Hard 4.0. According to Variety, the new title has been announced as Live Free or Die Hard, and it'll be opening on June 29, 2007, a week before the movie industry's big fourth of July weekend.

The fourth, and likely last, Die Hard pits Willis's character John McClane, with good old-fashioned brawn and bullets, against high-tech criminals who plan to crash the technological infrastructure — bank networks, power grids, and so on — of the U.S. via computer, for purposes unknown.

However, while McClane might be stuck in the analog age, a hacker who might just have the skills to take the bad guys to task. (Some reports claim the hacker is also McClane's delinquent son.) The two end up on the bad side of both the villains and the government, pulling out all the stops save the country from collapse.
